Dry needling is a form of therapeutic intervention in which fine, non-medicated needles are inserted into myofascial trigger points, tendons, ligaments, or near nerves in order to stimulate a healing response in painful musculoskeletal conditions.

Dry needling is not acupuncture; it does not have the purpose of altering the flow of energy along traditional Chinese meridians for the treatment of diseases. It is a modern, science-based intervention for the treatment of pain and dysfunction in musculoskeletal conditions.

The treatment can be used for multiple musculoskeletal conditions such as myofascial pain, piriformis syndrome, headaches, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, low back pain, neck pain, increased scar tissue after a surgery, shoulder pain, plantar fasciitis, shin splints, and knee pain.

Only a small percentage of licensed physical therapists in the nation are certified in dry needling. NOMS Physical Therapist, Jeremy Blackston, PT, DPT, Cert. DN, AT is certified in the technique and has tremendous success treating a variety of musculoskeletal conditions. Jeremy sees patients at NOMS Advanced Health Therapy.
